It’s World Breastfeeding Week, and my feeds are gloriously bursting with everyone proudly showing their war wounds, their celebrations, their I-nursed-my-kid-and-holy-hell-I-didn’t-think-we’d-make-it-but-look-at-us-now! 😍
I love the celebrating. The commiserating. The collective tribe standing together and saying me too.
But then I also thought of the mamas that fought and struggled, that tried but couldn’t or didn’t or didn’t want to and I want to honor you.
Fed is best, mama.
You have nurtured, kept alive, brought up, raised such incredible beautiful children too.
Your motherhood is not less whether you did or didn’t.
Your motherhood is not dictated by whether you breastfed, or formula fed or supplemented or adopted or are organic or fed them Cheezels.
Your motherhood is defined by just you, here, now, in this space. Forever worried, forever guilty, forever wondering if you did enough because a teeny tiny calls you mama and it is the biggest, most precious, calling in your life.
You did enough.
You are enough.
You got this, mama.
